The Holy Land - April 2018

In 1960 my father asked me "What would you like for your birthday? A new camera, or a trip to the Holy Land?"  I've been taking photographs since I was 11 years old - so, as you might guess, I opted for a new camera.

Fifty-eight years later Gill said "Why don't we take a holiday to the Holy Land?" So we did. I hasten to add I took over six hundred photographs - but not with the camera I was given for my 21st birthday!

This was not a true "holiday" as we had no spare time to visit shops on our own, or relax for an hour on the banks of the Sea of Galilee! But it was a "Pilgrimage of Song". The lovely group we went with were sent 42 different songs to practice - and we had many rehearsals 'en route'. It was a wonderful experience and gave us both a totally different view of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict: and, for me, it was a surprise that so many places mentioned in the Bible are so close together - within a few miles of each other.
